MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR - MONIQUE :)
I'm Monique, a calligrapher and engraver based in Johannesburg, Gauteng, specializing in calligraphy and fragrance engraving for on-site calligraphy and brand activations.
I am also a modern calligraphy instructor with a passion for teaching students the art of calligraphy and lettering as often as I can.
I have always been an admirer of handwritten art and calligraphy in particular. I started my calligraphy journey in 2017. I purchased my first nib, ink and holder with absolutely no idea what I was doing but sheer determination that I would figure it out and there was no stopping me. I've been doing calligraphy just about every day in one form or another every day since then.
The beauty of calligraphy is that it is not limited to paper - while my focus is on teaching the basics of modern calligraphy, those basics can be applied to any surface to personalise anything you can imagine - from gift bags to engraved fragrances, to birthday cards or even wedding vows. With calligraphy, your only limit is your imagination - inspiration is everywhere.
